Guidelines for Returning to Worship

As you read through these guidelines, we ask that you do so with respect, even if you do not agree with everything listed below. This list was compiled by the men of the Acton church of Christ. We compiled it as a group and agreed upon it as a group, and we ask that you respect our decision. Remember that as Christians, we are to “do all things without grumbling or disputing” (Phil 2:14). That includes enduring a few minor inconveniences for a relatively short time so we can assemble again. As we meet together, we want to “consider how to stir up one another to love and good works” (Heb 10:24). In our current situation, that includes protecting one another. In our judgment, the following is the best way for us to accomplish that goal.

  • We will resume our Sunday morning assembly and worship beginning on June 7. Wednesday Bible class will continue to be online-only for the time being.
  • If you are high risk, we encourage you to stay home and watch online.
  • If you are sick in any way, please stay home and watch online until you are completely better.
  • If you have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, or have traveled internationally or to a domestic hot spot in the past two weeks, please stay home and watch online.
  • We will have two services, one at 9:00 AM and one at 11:00 AM. For those watching online, the 11:00 AM service is the one we will stream.
  • Families with last names beginning with A-J are asked to attend the 9:00 AM service. Families with last names beginning with K-Z are asked to attend the 11:00 AM service.
  • If your immediate family includes more than one last name, you may choose one or the other and attend the corresponding service together.
  • If you are unable to attend the service time corresponding to your last name, you may attend the other service. However, please only do this if you would be unable to attend otherwise.
  • Security will open doors for members as they enter. You should have no need to touch the door handles.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available and easily accessible.
  • You may be asked to help sanitize your area before leaving. We will provide supplies for you to do so.
  • You are encouraged to wear a mask. If you have your own, please bring it with you. We will also have some extras available at the building.
  • Song books will not be available. Songs will be on the projector.
  • Please maintain social distance while entering and exiting the building. When you enter, go immediately to your seat. When it is time to leave, we will give instructions for everyone to exit in a controlled manner.
  • Every other pew will be taped off.
  • Please sit only with your family and those you have contact with on a regular basis.
  • There will be no Bible class or nursery.
  • Individual communion packets will be available for you to pick up as you enter.
  • Offering plates will not be passed around. Instead, there will be a box where you can drop your offering in as you enter or leave. You may also choose to mail in your contribution to P.O. Box 183, Michie, TN 38357 ℅ Stephen Harvill.
  • Please refrain from hugging or shaking hands.
  • This is uncharted territory for all of us. These guidelines are subject to change as we continue to assess the best way for us to meet together in a safe manner. We will let you know if there are any significant changes.
